Unification Day 2016 Semester 2

Are you ready for Unification Day! It’s back for semester two so it’s time for the societies to face off once again in a battle to prove who’s best! The Groove Alliegence were the champions of Semester 1, but who knows who will rise up to take it out this semester. Come and watch as the best dancers from each university and society give it all they’ve got in an crew on crew freestyle battle! This battle is a free event for all uni societies to enter and watch where sponsorship, special treatment and the Unification Day Cup is on the line. So come down, watch some awesome battles, support your society and Unify!

Unification Day ’16 Semester 2
Saturday 13th August
Battle starts 5:30pm

Double Elimination Format
Each round is 8 minutes then final rounds
Allstyle battle featuring music of all styles
Free entry to battle and watch

Winning society wins $100 sponsorship to a soceity run event
as well as cheaper classes at Crossover Dance
And the pride of holding the Unification Day cup!

Lex and Zandro are back!

A mack can be a person who is smooth, slick, the Best of the Best, a Pimp, a Ladies Man, the guy who runs everything a.k.a. the Boss. A mack is a person who is always flirting and hitting on girls. Almost always successful at it too.

Two crossover OG’s are coming back to teach after what seems like a lifetime away. Lex and Zandro will be teaching regular classes each week at XO starting from this week! If you don’t know about them, they are amazing dancers and instructors, xo family and certified Macks. Come say hello to them again as they reestablish their dominance!

It’s back! Following our Unification Day Battle which is happening this weekend, it’s time for XO’s O-week! Are you a uni student and part of a university dance society? If so all classes will be just $10 for that week! If you’re not, what better time to join? If for whatever reason you aren’t in one though don’t worry, you can get $12 classes that week instead!
Come and check out a class, try a new style or just jam with us as we welcome in the new semester for 2016! We welcome all uni goers to come down and check out Crossover Dance. Enjoy!

The Road to Kpop Summit 2016 S1

Kpop Summit is back! And it’s coming for the first time in May! We’ve heard you wanted more time to get things ready so it’s time to get busy as we prepare to shine on stage to cover our favourite kpop groups and songs!

This event is for people who are interested in performing at the summit. Interested? It’s fun and an awesome exprience! There are 2 ways of getting involved.

1. Courses
Here at XOkpop we’ll be teaching a number of dance courses to perform on stage. Theses will start soon, some from this weekend, and are a great way to be part of the show. We’ll release more info on theses soon!

2. Crews
Do you have a crew or want to get some friends together to perform? We always welcome crews out there to work on their own covers. However due to such high demand we do require a video submission to see what you guys have got. If you’re new, don’t be put off by the audition process, we just want to see your progress and make sure you’ll be ready! If you do wanna make a crew and audition there’s a bit more info you need, so we’d like you to nominate a crew leader and join the summit performers group. We’ll post a link below soon!

The event will be held on the 14th of May in Money Baa Darling Quarter Theatre. If you’re not into performing we always welcome people to come and join the audience as well! Kpop Summit is for all fans of Kpop, so let’s unite and celebrate the fandoms that we love!

New Absolute Beginner Courses for New Dancers! Try 1st week for $10!

Wanna try a new style or know someone who wants to learn to dance! Well come and check out our 6 week absolute beginner courses starting in March! Each course is designed for new dancers and is cheaper then normal when you pay for 6 weeks! If you’re considering, it’s only $10 to try the first week of the course to see if you enjoy so come and give it a go! Enjoy dance!

Each course runs for 6 consequtive weeks from the start date. Each course costs $80 for 6 weeks, or you can try the first week for $10 and pay $70 for the remaining weeks after that.
Suitable for new dancers and absolute beginners in the style

Courses:
Starting Thursday 17th
Kpop Choreos – 5:00pm
Like Kpop? Wanna start learning some of the dances? You can choose the songs we do each week! This course is mainly focused on Male groups like EXO, BTS, BAP but we’re open to requests!

Hip Hop for Absolute Beginners – 6:30pm
Want to learn the basics and foundations of Hip Hop? Join Danny’s class as he teaches basic moves, grooves and combinations.

Starting Friday 18th
Girls Kpop Choreo – 5:00pm
Like Kpop? Wanna start learning some of the dances? You can choose the songs we do each week! This course is mainly focused on Female groups but we’re open to requests!

Starting Saturday 19th
Hip Hop for Absolute Beginners – 1:00pm
Want to learn the basics and foundations of Hip Hop? Join Shannon’s class as she goes through moves and steps you can use to dance and have fun

Girls Style Choreo – 2:00pm
For girls who want to learn a bit about being sexy and have fun, come and learn fun dance routines and moves. Designed for new dancers no experience is needed, just come and enjoy!

Starting Sunday 20th
Breaking Basics – 3:00pm
Wanna learn some breaking? This class is for you, where we’ll teach you how to look awesome and be safe doing it. Proper technique and drills for breaking as well as the history and culture behind bboying will be taught.

Urban Choreo – 4:00pm
Urban Choreo is the style you might associate with music videos and commercial dance. Come learn some awesome routines to the music of now in the company of other beginners as Emily shows you how to dance!
